Mississippi!

We left rainy Florida and drove to the dryer climate of Biloxi, MS. Okay, so maybe the rain followed us along the way, sigh! Love this tunnel as you near Biloxi.

Lunch at Mary Mahoney's was first on the list of "To Do's" of course. Bob had the stuffed Snapper and I had Shrimp and Crab AuGratin. AND, we had meals that came with desert. Yep, we waddled out of there and a walk was in order! We walked around the building and wondered at the 2,000 year old tree pictured here. It's far too large to be able to capture in one picture. The base is just huge.

Then we walked across the street to look around the Beau Rivage Hotel and Casino. And when lunch was starting to digest, we drove to the IP Hotel and Casino to check in and spend the night.

Now, the IP is formerly the Imperial Palace (curiosity made us ask!) and the new owners bought this one and the one in LasVegas and they changed the name to IP to distance it from the original group. By going on Thursday night we got a nice room rate but there were no shows to enjoy. So we walked around the casino to people watch and try our hands at the $.01 slots!

It turns out that if you register for a game card (one for each of us), you automatically get a free buffet meal. We did that and you use it in the slot machines and 'rack' up points for free stuff. Well, that's something that will never happen for us, but a free meal is a free meal!

After checking in, we went to the pool and relaxed for an hour or two. Then back to the room to change and play our high-roller slot machines. We each lost around $6 each on the machines and tips for water or beer. We walked around the room and watched the $20's, $50's and $100's being thrown down on the craps, roulette and other tables. Frightening!

The next morning we got in line for the breakfast buffet. Normally $13 each but for us, yes, free, and fabulous! We left around 11:00 (still waddling from all the food) and drove for 8.5 hours to Little Rock, Arkansas. More on that next time.
